Here at Lake Country Booksellers, we love a good story. And the story of our beloved store is a great one (in our completely and totally unbiased opinion)!

In spring of 1980, four intrepid women decided that they loved books and wanted to share that love with their community. Lake Country Booksellers was born, although the husbands of our “founding mothers” were doubtful they would last more than a few months. The joke ended up being on them, since here we are 46 years later in the same location!

Through the years, many wonderful women (and our “token male”, Lance - his words!) have been part of stewarding this little bookstore, navigating the advent of a certain major online bookstore, a global pandemic, and lots of ups and downs along the way. Luckily, we have the best community of customers who have kept us going through it all - we would not be here without you!
